'American Coyotes' Series

Traveling by Jeep, boat and foot, Tribune-Review investigative reporter Carl Prine and photojournalist Justin Merriman covered nearly 2,000 miles over two months along the border with Mexico to report on coyotes — the human traffickers who bring illegal immigrants into the United States. Penn State's Tim Curley was nominated for the Sports Business Athletic Director of the Year award.

Curley, who's in his 18th year at Penn State, is among five finalists, including Stanford's Bob Bowlsby, TCU's Chris Del Conte, Texas' DeLoss Dodds and Utah's Chris Hill.

The winner will be announced May 18 at the Sports Business Awards at the New York Marriott Marquis.
