Robert Morris sophomore guard Karon Abraham has been suspended for the 2011-12 basketball season after his involvement in two alcohol-related offenses in six months.

"We just felt enough was enough," coach Andy Toole said.

Abraham, 19, of Paterson, N.J., was cited for underage drinking last month in Moon Township while he was in the Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition program for a DUI arrest in November.

Toole said he believes Abraham, who was Robert Morris' leading scorer last season, might have been in "shock" when informed of the suspension.

"I believe he is obviously disappointed, and he might be in shock that this has come to this," Toole said. "I think you always think you are going to get another chance, and you always think this won't happen to you.

"Now, he is looking at sitting out an entire season and not being able to do something he loves to do and has done his entire life. Hopefully, this will send the right message that there are certain choices you have to make and certain things you have to do."

Anthony Myers, 20, a freshman point guard from Washington, D.C., also was cited for underage drinking in the incident with Abraham last month.

Toole said Myers will appear in front of a student judiciary board, but his punishment may not be as severe as Abraham's because it is his first offense.

Toole said Abraham will not be permitted to work out with the team during his suspension, but he is welcome to attend practices and games. He also hopes he will remain in school.

"I told him I want him to be around, showing his face and hanging out with his teammates," Toole said. "I hope he isolates himself with people who really care about him."
