Pitt hoops ranked No. 11 in coaches' poll

NEW YORK — Pitt is ranked No. 11 in the first USA Today/ESPN Coaches poll preseason Top 25, released today.

The Panthers, who return two starters from a 28-6 team, were picked fourth in the Big East men's basketball coaches' poll on Wednesday.

Defending national champion Connecticut is ranked No. 4 in the USA Today poll, followed by No. 5 Syracuse and No. 8 Louisville.

No. 21 Marquette and No. 22 Cincinnati give the Big East six teams in the top 25.

North Carolina is ranked No. 1 with 30 of a possible 31 first-place votes. Kentucky is second and Ohio State is third.
