"Alle-Kiski Valley Sports History: A Century of Sports in Western Pennsylvania's A-K Valley," a much-anticipated book by longtime Valley News Dispatch sports correspondent George Guido, will be on sale starting Friday.

The book ($19.95, Word Association Publishing) is available at Costello's Printing on Fifth Avenue in Tarentum. It also will be available starting Saturday at Border's Express at Pittsburgh Mills and on-line at www.wordassociation.com .

The 50-chapter book features historic teams, players and coaches over the last century, including the football dynasties of Ken High, Kiski Area and Freeport; the basketball dynasty of Ford City; the Leechburg softball dynasty; the history of Oakmont Country Club; and individual stories on Willie Thrower, the Modzelewski brothers and Lernerville Speedway.

Guido will have book signings from 2-5 p.m. Feb. 12 and from 1-4 p.m. Feb. 14 at Border's Express.
