'American Coyotes' Series

Traveling by Jeep, boat and foot, Tribune-Review investigative reporter Carl Prine and photojournalist Justin Merriman covered nearly 2,000 miles over two months along the border with Mexico to report on coyotes — the human traffickers who bring illegal immigrants into the United States. Notable: The top-ranked Sabres are coming off a 3-2 loss Saturday to the No. 2 team in the Eastern Conference, the New Jersey Devils. ... The Sabres have the 18th-best power play on the road at 16 percent. Their penalty kill is ranked seventh on the road at 84 percent. ... Thomas Vanek has the second-best plus/minus rating in the league at plus 33. ... The Penguins last won a game at home against the Sabres on Dec. 16, 2003, (0-1-2 since). This is the Sabres' first trip to Pittsburgh this season. They visit again on April 3 in the third-to-last game of the regular season.
