'American Coyotes' Series

Traveling by Jeep, boat and foot, Tribune-Review investigative reporter Carl Prine and photojournalist Justin Merriman covered nearly 2,000 miles over two months along the border with Mexico to report on coyotes — the human traffickers who bring illegal immigrants into the United States. Most are Americans working for money and/or drugs. This series reports how their operations have a major impact on life for residents and the environment along the border — and beyond.

The Kid's legal.

Sidney Crosby, the Penguins' second coming of Mario Lemieux (who just happens to bunk at the real thing's Sewickley home during hockey season), turns 21 today.

No wonder he wears jersey number 87. Think about it -- Aug. 7, 1987, or 8/ 787.

Crosby told the Tribune-Review he plans to celebrate his coming of age with friends at his home in Nova Scotia, and when he tips a cup in Canada -- the legal drinking age there is 19 -- he prefers it be filled with Jack Daniels or Crown Royal.

If he were in the 'Burgh, Crosby surely would stop at Mario's -- on the South Side. Or the Locker Room down East Carson Street.

Here's hoping that next year he'll sip his favorite bev from the Stanley Cup.
