Penguins' Kunitz could make return tonight against Boston

Saturday, March 5, 2011

• Left wing Chris Kunitz appears close to returning and could play tonight at Boston. After practicing all week, Kunitz took part in Friday's optional skate and the pregame skate at Prudential Center in Newark, N.J. Coach Dan Bylsma said he wanted to see how Kunitz's body responded to skating twice in one day. If he felt fine following the pregame skate, Kunitz is likely to play against the Bruins. If he had returned against the Devils, Kunitz would have played on consecutive nights after going almost a month without suiting up.

• Right wing Eric Godard is eligible to return to the lineup Tuesday against Buffalo. He was suspended 10 games for leaving the bench to fight during last month's brawl on Long Island.

• Center Jordan Staal was back with familiar linemates Matt Cooke and Tyler Kennedy last night, and he also sported a familiar look. Staal replaced his mullet, which he had worn all season, with a short haircut.

• Goalie Marc-Andre Fleury is slated to start tonight after backup Brent Johnson faced the Devils last night.
