'American Coyotes' Series

Traveling by Jeep, boat and foot, Tribune-Review investigative reporter Carl Prine and photojournalist Justin Merriman covered nearly 2,000 miles over two months along the border with Mexico to report on coyotes — the human traffickers who bring illegal immigrants into the United States. Most are Americans working for money and/or drugs. This series reports how their operations have a major impact on life for residents and the environment along the border — and beyond.

The Pirates today rounded out their major coaching staff by naming Perry Hill first base coach.

Hill, 56, has coached 14 seasons in the majors, most recently as first base/infield coach for the Florida Marlins (2002-06).

Hill spent 14 years with the Texas Rangers organization, including four seasons (1992-95) at the major league level as first base coach and infield instructor. He also worked for the Detroit Tigers and Montreal Expos.
