'American Coyotes' Series

Traveling by Jeep, boat and foot, Tribune-Review investigative reporter Carl Prine and photojournalist Justin Merriman covered nearly 2,000 miles over two months along the border with Mexico to report on coyotes — the human traffickers who bring illegal immigrants into the United States. Most are Americans working for money and/or drugs. This series reports how their operations have a major impact on life for residents and the environment along the border — and beyond.

The Pirates are expected to select the contract of left-handed pitcher Brian Burres and recall catcher Jason Jaramillo from Triple-A Indianapolis today as part of their September call-ups.

Burres was 5-9 with a 4.66 ERA in 23 starts at Indy. He struck out 95 and walked 45 in 129 13 innings.

Jaramillo was a member of the Pirates' opening day roster but was optioned to Indianapolis on April 14, where he hit .276 with two homers and 23 RBI in 46 games in Indy.
