The Penguins made 11 cuts Wednesday, trimming their training-camp roster to 30 players.

The cuts were forwards Chris Conner, Nick Johnson, Brett Sterling, Joe Vitale and Tim Wallace; defensemen Robert Bortuzzo, Corey Potter, Brian Strait and Steve Wagner; goaltenders John Curry and Brad Thiessen.

All players were assigned to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the AHL. Conner, Curry, Potter, Sterling, Wagner and Wallace must clear waivers by Thursday.

The Penguins do not practice today. They play at Chicago on Friday and at Detroit on Sunday to close their exhibition schedule. Coach Dan Bylsma said he would like to take between 25 and 27 players into the weekend.
