Steelers linebackers Woodley, Timmons restructure contracts

Friday, Feb. 10, 2012

The Steelers trimmed more than $10 million in salary-cap money this week when they restructured the contracts of linebackers LaMarr Woodley and Lawrence Timmons.

Woodley and Timmons signed six- and five-year contracts, respectively, last August and each helped the Steelers get in line with the salary cap without taking a pay cut.

The Steelers also freed up a little more than $3.5 million in regard to the salary cap earlier this week when they terminated the contracts of cornerback Bryant McFadden and wide receiver Arnaz Battle.

They have cut around $15 million in salary-cap money in the last week. The Steelers entered the offseason around $25 million over the projected salary cap for the 2012 season.

The cap isn't expected to rise significantly from last year when it was $120.375 million.
