Idlewild continues streak as 'Best Children's Park'
For the fifth year in a row, Idlewild & SoakZone in Ligonier has earned the “Best Children's Park in the World” title at the annual Golden Ticket Awards.
Arlington, Texas-based Amusement Today magazine runs the awards, which are called the Oscars of the amusement-park industry. Awards are given based on the votes of amusement-park enthusiasts around the world.
Idlewild was founded in 1878 as a picnic ground along the Ligonier Valley Rail Road. Though it has closed its daily operations for the season, Idlewild still has some seasonal events coming up, including HallowBoo! on Saturdays and Sundays in October.
“Idlewild's team members are especially thankful for this recognition and thrilled to work at the Best Children's Park in the World,” Brandon Leonatti, Idlewild park general manager, said in a written statement. “Through the support of our guests and team members, Idlewild has provided lifelong memories to kids and grownups alike for over 136 years, and we look forward to continuing this tradition.”
