Fox host Pete Hegseth jokes he hasn't washed his hands in 10 years
So maybe he does wash his hands after all.
On Sunday “Fox and Friends” host Pete Hegseth said he’ll eat day-old pizza, but won’t wash his hands.
During some on-air banter with co-hosts Ed Henry and Jedediah Bila, Hegseth said that while eating pizza that has sat out is ok, he’s not big on washing his hands.
“My 2019 resolution is to say things on-air that I say off-air,” Hegseth said on the couch with his co-hosts. “I don’t think I’ve washed my hands for 10 years.
“I don’t really wash my hands ever.”
Henry and Bila laughed as Hegseth continued, “I inoculate myself. Germs are not a real thing. I can’t see them, therefore, they’re not real.”
Hegseth, a weekend co-host for the show, as well as a political analyst for Fox News, followed up on Twitter with the hashtag “DontWash attached to a retweet defending his comments.
The comments caught the attention of several media outlets, including USA Today , which posted a story and video of the exchange.
But on Monday Hegseth said that he was joking. He took to Twitter and responded to the USA Today story saying, “The Media is so self righteous and ANGRY! Loosen up and have some fun. The Country is doing well (as is my health!)”
To paraphrase the President from an hour ago:The Media is so self righteous and ANGRY! Loosen up and have some fun. The Country is doing well (as is my health!)P.S. I also support drinking from garden hoses & riding bikes w/o a helmet. Cue outrage... https://t.co/BubsAwBtFx— Pete Hegseth (@PeteHegseth) February 11, 2019
Really he was joking.
Joke or no joke, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends that people wash their hands.
