Lower Burrell tenor Colin Aikins to perform at St. Margaret Mary Church
Tenor Colin Aikins will perform a benefit concert on behalf of Mary Queen of Apostles School in New Kensington at 7 p.m. May 24 at St. Margaret Mary Church in Lower Burrell.
An alumnus of Mary Queen of Apostles, Aikins, who is a senior at Pittsburgh Central Catholic, was recently accepted to the Julliard School and Curtis Institute of Music.
Aikins has performed at Carnegie Hall in New York City, the Miami New World Symphony Center and the Smith Center for Performing Arts in Los Vegas.
He was the winner of the 2016 Pittsburgh Concert Society Young Artist Competition, the national first-place winner in the 2017 Classical Singer Vocal Competition and recently became an NPR “From the Top” finalist.
Aikins received a full scholarship to attend the Salzburg Festival in Austria and was the winner of the 2017 Protégé International Voice Competition.
This free-will donation event will benefit the Ten Commandments Project as well as the school's fine arts department.
