Personality Test: John Mowod
John Mowod, of South Fayette, is the writer/producer of the movie “Amazing Racer,” along with partner Larry Richert of KDKA-AM (1020). It's based a story involving Mowod's brother, Joe, a horse trainer at the Meadows Casino and Racetrack, and a special horse that he rehabilitated.
Mowod also has partnered with Larry Richert and Dan Marino to bring the Anthony's Coal Fired Pizza restaurant chain to Pittsburgh, with locations in Monroeville and at Settler's Ridge in Robinson.
He's also the president of the Pittsburgh Jazz Society, a nonprofit dedicated to “promotion, preservation and perpetuation of jazz.” The group hosts many jazz events and concerts and sponsors scholarships. Mowod is the son of long-time Pittsburgh jazz radio host Tony Mowod.
Mowod also reviews movies on the KDKA morning show every Friday, in a segment titled “Mowod on Movies.”
