Cultural Trust looking for baker to whip up most creative recipe in 'Waitress' pie contest
Bakers with a whimsical or one-of-a-kind recipe can enter to win the “Waitress Pie Contest,” sponsored by the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust.
The contest precedes Pittsburgh production of the musical comedy, “Waitress.” The national tour will be a the Benedum Center March 6 to 11.
Inspired by the Adrienne Shelly film, “Waitress” is the story of Jenna, a superb pie baker with a dream to live a bigger life — but she has to find the courage to do so.
The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust contest is seeking creative pie recipes that mimic Jenna's signature creations.
Bakers should submit their most innovative recipe, the kind that would express hopes, dreams, fears or frustrations, according to the rules.
The winning recipe will be featured as an insert in the official “Waitress” cookbook and the baker will be featured on the show's social media.
Three finalists will be selected before celebrity judges choose the winning recipe during a taste-testing conducted during a live locally broadcast TV program.
Submissions will be accepted online through 11:59 p.m. Feb. 14.
“Waitress” is produced by an all-female creative team with music and lyrics by Grammy nominee Sara Bareilles.
The show is sponsored by the PNC Broadway in Pittsburgh series.
