Pittsburgh woman wins prize for 'Pippin' swag
Michelina Pollini doesn't have a background in marketing.
But her prize-winning idea for a give-away souvenir is helping Anita Dloniak & Associates spread the word about the Broadway Across America tour of “Pippin.”
Pollini, a programming associate for the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust's Pittsburgh International Children's Festival who lives in Spring Hill, answered the call for promotional ideas and objects that the company could use as a give-away souvenir for media representatives or at group sales or promotional events for “Pippin.”
Her winning suggestion was Acrobatic Magnetic, an office desk toy with a magnetized base and six people-shaped metal spring clips that can be stacked or arranged into human pyramids reminiscent of some of the gymnastic feats in the show.
She had seen the tiny metal paper clips on her dad's work desk and thought they would be something to fiddle with during brainstorming sessions.
“Something to keep my hands busy,” says Pollini, who was one of two winners and received a Visa gift card for $250.
