More than 250 people attended the 27th annual St. Vincent Summer Theatre Gala on July 8 at the Robert S. Carey Student Center on the Unity campus.

This year marks the 48th season of professional theater at St. Vincent, and gala attendees were treated to a performance of “Cole: An Entertainment Based on the Words and Music of Cole Porter.”

A gleaming 1934 Packard, the art deco entrance of the Carey Center, and wine-bottle centerpieces decorated with feathers and pearls were reminiscent of the heyday of the prolific composer and songwriter known for “Night and Day” and “I've Got You Under My Skin.”

Students under the direction of Tony Marino with Stage Right posed with the “Roosevelt Red” Packard, owned by Guy and Leona Davis of Greensburg.

Gala VIPs included theater director Greggory Brandt with Amy, executive producer the Rev. Bonaventure Curtis, St. Vincent president Norman Hipps and Archabbot Douglas Nowicki.

Major sponsors were First Commonwealth Bank, represented by Sharon Nies, with Tom, and R&L Development, represented by Dale Latimer, with Darlene.

Gala co-chairs were Karl and Carmen Eisaman.
