Out & About: St. Vincent's 28th annual Summer Theatre Gala
Organizers of the St. Vincent Summer Theatre Gala did what they do best for the 28th annual event on July 7 in the Carey Student Center on the Unity campus.
They planned a festive evening of gourmet food and fellowship, topped off by the theater's current production, the madcap British comedy “See How They Run!”
Leading into the center were two black-painted running silhouettes, posed for by the granddaughters of committee members Joanna and Richard Stillwagon and crafted by committee member and woodworker Angelo DeMezza.
Holding the doors were two British Royal Guards in red coats and towering bearskin hats, courtesy of Stage Right.
Dinner entrees were a succulent beef Wellington and salmon in phyllo pastry, along with a potato bar and a table laden with biscuits (better known in these parts as the “cookie table”).
The theater rocked with laughter at the antics of a befuddled bishop, four vicars (both legitimate and counterfeit), a frantic wife, a harried maid and a meddling parishioner who gets into the cooking sherry.
A grand time, as they say, was had by all.
Gala co-chairs were Marie Zanotti and Vance Booher.
