Bishop Zubik resting comfortably after successful back surgery
Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh Bishop David A. Zubik is recovering after a successful surgical procedure this morning to repair damaged discs in his back, according to the diocese.
The surgery was set to happen at about 7:30 a.m. at UPMC Mercy in Uptown. Zubik's Twitter account posted a request for prayers.
Please pray for me as I undergo back surgery today. May God's healing hand be at work for all who need his help.— Bishop Zubik (@BishopZubik) June 26, 2017
"Bishop Zubik is resting comfortably at UPMC Mercy Hospital, Uptown, and hopes to return home soon. Bishop Zubik is grateful for continued prayers for strength and healing during his recovery," the diocese said in a release at about 2:30 p.m.
He wrote that he has "become a user and a fan of the ride-sharing service Uber," which, he said, gets him where he needs to go.
