Warrant issued for suspect in Penn Hills homicide
The Allegheny County Homicide Unit last week was still searching for an armed and dangerous fugitive who allegedly shot and killed a Baldwin man over Labor Day weekend.
The county has an arrest warrant for 20-year-old Steven Sparrow, no address available. He was charged with criminal homicide, robbery and illegal possession of a firearm.
“He is currently a fugitive from justice and should be considered armed and dangerous,” a county press release said. Police were not immediately available to comment.
Andre Williams, 26, of Baldwin was found with a gunshot wound to his forehead by a Penn Hills officer at Lincoln Road and Vine Street on Sept. 2. He died the following day at UPMC Mercy.
The responding officer, Lt. Roger Meyers of Penn Hills, said he saw a car flee from Mark Drive on the night of the shooting and believed the incident was drug-related.
Anyone with information on Sparrow's whereabouts should call the homicide unit at 412-473-3000. Tips can remain anonymous.
