Allegheny County's annual prom dress giveaway begins March 3
Allegheny County's Department of Human Services is partnering with the National Council of Jewish Women for its annual prom dress giveaway for eligible high school students.
The giveaway, called Project Prom, begins from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 3 at Thriftique, at 125 51st St. in Pittsburgh's Lawrenceville neighborhood, a county news release said.
The giveaway will continue from 3 to 6 p.m. March 5 through 7, 3 to 7 p.m. March 8 and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 10, the release said.
To participate, high school students must live in Allegheny County and qualify for free or reduced school lunches, the release said. A student also may qualify if a household member is on active military duty or a veteran.
An assortment of free dresses that are new or gently used will be available, along with a selection of shoes and jewelry, the release said.
