Penn Hills to host parade to celebrate PIAA Class 5A football title
Penn Hills residents will line the streets Saturday to celebrate the municipality’s — and state’s — 5A football State Champions, who will parade from Frankstown Road to the high school auditorium.
The parade, which follows the football team’s 36-31 victory in the state title game against Manheim Central in Harrisburg, is scheduled to start at 10:30 a.m. at the former YMCA property, 11817 Frankstown Road. The procession will include the undefeated football team, the high school marching band, cheerleaders and the high school’s Hometown High Q team.
The route that starts at Frankstown Road will immediately take parade participants down Harvard Drive, onto Parkridge Drive, then onto Garland Drive, where participants will enter the back of the high school to make their way to the auditorium.
Community members not in the parade are encouraged to access the auditorium through the high school’s main entrance.
Once inside, Penn Hills School Superintendent Nancy Hines will welcome those in attendance, followed by addresses by state Sen. Jay Costa, D-Forest Hills, and coach Jon LeDonne.
“Please help spread the word,” Hines said in a news release. “All are welcomed to attended and encouraged to line the parade route from Domino’s to PHHS. We hope you will consider joining us for the celebration!”
