Aspinwall could remove residency requirements for police
Aspinwall council on Wednesday night is expected to discuss residency requirements for borough police.
Manager Melissa Lang said members plan to review and update civil service guidelines, which could result in permitting full-time borough officers to live further away. Currently, officers are required to live within eight air miles.
Council meets at 7 p.m. in the municipal office along Commercial Avenue.
In other news, military banners to display in the borough are still available through the District Association. The group opened applications on Nov. 1 for the Hometown Heroes program which recognizes those who are serving, or have served, the country. The District Association will pay for 25 banners, each will include the person’s name, branch of service and photo. The flags typically are 24-by-36 inches.
