Franklin Regional senior earns first runner-up in Miss America's Outstanding Teen competition
Cecilia Petrush, named Miss Pennsylvania’s Outstanding Teen earlier this summer, was awarded first runner-up at the Miss America’s Outstanding Teen Scholarship Pageant, held July 24-28 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando.
Miss Texas’ Outstanding Teen London Hibbs was crowned Miss America’s Outstanding Teen.
In addition to being awarded a scholarship as first runner-up, Petrush, a senior at Franklin Regional High School, was also awarded scholarships for winning the Ad Sales Award, Preliminary Talent Award, and Vocalist Award. Her Pennsylvania and national scholarships awarded total over $20,000 and will go toward her college education.
The national platform for Miss America’s Outstanding Teen is Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, and through the fundraising by Petrush and her supporters, Pennsylvania raised more than $13,000 for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals and finished second place in state fundraising.
The Miss America’s Outstanding Teen Scholarship Organization is part of the Miss America Organization.
