Free document shredding, medication disposal event slated for Aug. 8 in McCandless
A free event for North Hills residents to shred documents containing confidential information and dispose of unwanted medications will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. on Aug. 8 in the parking lot of Mcknight Elementary School/North Allegheny Intermediate High School.
The event is being sponsored by state House Speaker Mike Turzai, R-Bradford Woods and the Town of McCandless Police Department.
Medications that can disposed of include prescription drugs, over-the-counter drugs, pet medications, patches, vitamins and supplements and inhalers.
Intravenous bags, blood or infectious waste, nebulizers, oxygen tanks and mercury thermometers will not be accepted.
Residents can drop off up to five boxes of unwanted documents per household to be shredded. Newsprint, magazines and books are not being accepted.
The schools are located along Cumberland Road in McCandless.
