McCandless: Environmental advocacy group soliciting in town until November
McCandless police are alerting residents that a non-profit organization that focuses on environmental advocacy will be conducting door-to-door outreach in the town from August to November.
Representatives of the group Clean Water Action will be working in McCandless from 4 to 9 p.m.
Officials noted that the U.S. Supreme Court has exempted Clean Water Action and other non-profit organizations from having to obtain a permit to solicit in communities. Representatives of the group will be carrying identification badges.
Police noted that while members of the organization are free to go door-to-door, residents have no obligation to interact with them.
Anybody who encounters a problem with a solicitor is urged to call 911 for assistance.
