Spring on the mind of McCandless officials: Volunteers needed for April 6 roadside cleanup
The region hasn’t had its first winter snowstorm yet, but McCandless officials already have spring cleaning on their minds.
Volunteers are being recruited for a roadside cleanup from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, April 6.
Residents interested in participating can sign up by calling 412-364-0616 Ext. 118 or by sending an email to the town’s Environmental Advisory Committee at: firstname.lastname@example.org.
Volunteers should wear sturdy shoes, longsleeve shirts and long pants. Bags, gloves and supplies will be provided.
The cleanup crew will meet at 9:30 a.m. at town hall on Grubbs Road, where a continental breakfast will be served before work begins.
Volunteers who participated in the town’s fall roadside cleanup on Oct. 13 collected 110 bags of trash as well as an assortment of odds-and-ends including tires, a kitty litter tub, gardening pots, a car grill and hubcap and a 33 RPM vinyl record.
