Bushy Run group to host program on 18th century clothing
A custom clothing designer from Trafford will present a program on 18th century clothing at 7 p.m. June 20 at the Bushy Run Battlefield Museum, Route 993 in Penn Township.
Jessica Young, who is also a historic clothing designer, is hosting the program, which is part of the Bushy Run Battlefield Heritage Society's History Speaks series.
Young's presentation will show the different pieces and parts of typical 18th century dress for men, women and children, featuring garments that she has made from her own research.
Young is the founder of Penny River LLC, a historic and custom costume company.
“Jessica's clothing presentation and fashion show is a perfect example of how we can have fun with history,” said Jean Saunders, volunteer and co-chair of the heritage society's education committee.
The program will include a “getting dressed” demonstration as well as a colonial fashion show. Light refreshments will be available.
Tickets for the presentation and remaining programs in the speaker series are $8 each in advance or $10 at the door. Bushy Run Battlefield Historical Society members receive a 10 percent discount.
All tickets can be purchased by calling Bushy Run Battlefield at 724-527-5584 or by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
