Oakmont officials seek new manager
Oakmont Manager Lisa Cooper Jensen is calling it a career after serving the borough for more than three decades.
“It was just time,” Jensen said. “(I’m) going to take some time off and then see what’s out there that looks good. Take walks, go to the movies, read books and then decide my next move.”
Council accepted her resignation at its Nov. 19 meeting.
Councilman Justin Lokay called Jensen a leader, colleague and friend.
“I’m thankful for her and her service, and I will miss her,” said Lokay.
Oakmont hired Jensen Aug. 26, 1986, to work part-time in the office.
She became full-time and assistant to the manager in 2006.
She also had a stint as the delinquent borough tax collector before being named interim borough manager in April 2012 when Bruce Jamison resigned.
Council formally promoted Jensen to borough manager July 2012. Her salary is listed in this year’s budget at $106,090.
“That’s quite a stint that she has provided here and deserves the recognition she has so truly earned,” council President William Benusa said.
Jensen received a round of applause by meeting attendees.
Her resignation is effective at the end of the year. However, Nov. 21 was to be her last day at the office.
Her resignation letter indicated her remaining hours will be paid time off.
Jensen is the second borough administrator to leave in as many months.
Assistant borough manger Carol Moore resigned in October, nearly two years to the day of being appointed to the post.
Moore was instrumental in forming the borough’s pedestrian plan and the subsequent committee to implement the plan and increase safety for borough walkers.
The manager position was posted under the “Employment Opportunities” tab of the borough website, oakmontborough.com .
Requirements include a master’s degree in public administration, planning or other government-related field. A college degree in political science or other related field and any relevant combination of experience and education will be considered.
Interested parties can email cover letters and resumes by Nov. 30 to email@example.com or send them to 767 Fifth St., Oakmont, Pa, 15139.
