Former Washington County man charged in woman's overdose death
A former Washington County man who sold a fatal dose of heroin and fentanyl to a Fredericktown woman last year faces charges in her death, officials said Wednesday.
Michael Martin, 34, of Philadelphia is charged with drug delivery resulting in death in connection with the overdose of 30-year-old Stacey Lynn Greenawalt, court records show. He lived in Washington County at the time of Greenawalt's death.
Greenawalt was found dead by her father Dec. 6, and investigators found stamp bags marked with green dollar signs at the scene.
A criminal complaint filed against Martin said that Greenawalt's father told police where his daughter normally hung out when she used drugs. Officers searched trash bags outside the home and found matching stamp bags marked with dollar signs.
Martin was inside the home, and a search turned up marijuana, crack cocaine, fentanyl and other drug paraphernalia, according to the complaint. Officers also found some of Greenawalt's belongings.
Text messages from Martin's phone alluded to packaging and selling the drugs, police said.
Martin, also charged with illegal firearm possession and other offenses, could face up to 40 years in prison if convicted. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Nov. 22.
