Man who allegedly ran away from Derry state hospital during field trip apprehended
A passing motorist on Tuesday spotted a Torrance State Hospital patient wanted by state police after he ran away a day earlier while on a field trip in Indiana County.
Troopers said a driver saw Patrick Charles Guyer, 22, of York County, walking at 3:43 p.m. along Old Route 119 in Center Township, Indiana County. He was taken into custody and is being held at the Indiana County Jail awaiting arraignment on an escape charge.
Guyer allegedly ran away about 3:05 p.m. Monday during the supervised trip from the hospital in Derry Township, Westmoreland County, to Indiana Mall Cinemas in White Township, police said.
Guyer is a court-ordered patient at the hospital. He is awaiting trial in York County on a charge of making terroristic threats filed by Carroll Township police in July 2016, according to police.
