West Leechburg man missing since Sept. 7 found safe
A West Leechburg man who had been missing since Sept. 7 was found safe, according to his grandmother.
Debbie Painter Benning texted that her grandson, Gabriel David, was found “safe” late Wednesday but provided no further information.
David’s mother had reported him missing.
PRIOR TO HIS BEING FOUND
“I don’t believe he chose to do this,” said Tiffany Gutonski, before he was located. She said the last time she heard from David, 27, was via text last week.
“Supposedly, he was last seen on Friday, leaving his house in Leechburg,” she said.
Gutonski, who lives in Harrison, said she filed a missing persons report with West Leechburg police on Monday after one of David’s friends asked her if she had heard from her son recently.
“I found out he hasn’t shown up for work in three days, no calls. His boss is very concerned,” Gutonski said, adding that he works for C&W Services in Pittsburgh.
West Leechburg police were not available to comment.
Gutonski said she has racked her brain trying to contact him and do whatever she can to help the police locate him. She said calls to his cellphone went straight to voicemail.
“I’m just scared to death something happened to him,” Gutonski said, fighting tears. “This isn’t something he would do. I don’t think he would do this to his family intentionally.”
She said her son has no history of drug abuse, and she doubts he is mixed up with “the wrong crowd.”
“One of his roommates told me he saw (David) going to a friend’s house. But he didn’t share plans,” Gutonski said. “He said he packed some clothes and that he gave him a pillow and a blanket. I don’t know what that means.”
