Construction delays push back reopening of Jeannette bridge
Motorists in Jeannette will continue to detour around the town’s closed North Fourth Street bridge into 2019.
Replacement of the bridge was to have been completed in mid-December, but that date has been moved back to mid-January because of construction delays, according to project officials.
Cars are being detoured along East Gaskill Avenue, 14th Street and Harrison Avenue. A truck detour follows Harrison Avenue, Oakford Park and Sheridan roads, North Main Street, Route 30, Agnew Road and Lewis and Chambers avenues.
Plenary Walsh Keystone Partners began work on the bridge in October, as part of a private-public partnership with PennDOT. The bridge is among 558 throughout the state that the private partners have agreed to replace and then maintain for 25 years.
