Donato denies negativity
On behalf of the Dave Donato for Mayor campaign, I would like to address the charges of “negativity and political mudslinging” as suggested by Mayor Cherepko on his Facebook page and city administrator Matt Gergely, who apparently is working on his campaign, in a Daily News letter to the editor.
As a former elementary teacher familiar with report cards, you would think that Mayor Cherepko would understand the concept and embrace its findings.
My campaign had nothing to do with:
#1 ... The FBI ranking McKeesport 17th in violent crime nationally.
#2 ... Allegheny County ranking McKeesport as highest in arson rate.
#3 ... McKeesport's dead last ranking in regional job creation, according to Department of Labor statistics.
#4 ... Channel 4's investigative series on alleged misuse of a city program.
The citizens of McKeesport deserve a healthy airing of the issues without “creating” a false narrative that your actions, programs, and policies ... are not “your” responsibility.
Simply put, this mayor's wounds are self-inflicted. Addressing crime, job creation, economic development, youth recreation resurgence, and administrative restructuring, will be central themes to the city revitalization and why Dave Donato is the better choice to do this.
