Ross gives OK to hotel conversion into assisted living center
Ross commissioners on Monday gave the go-ahead for a developer to convert a hotel overlooking McKnight Road in Ross into an assisted living center.
The board unanimously voted to approve a conditional use request for the La Quinta Inn & Suites Pittsburgh North, filed by the Hamister Hospitality Fund, an affiliate of Buffalo, N.Y.-based Hamister Hospitality Group, which specializes in healthcare and hotel management.
Nick Rickert, Ross' director of community development, said the company is not required to submit land development plans because the project is expected to only require interior renovations. The seven-story building located off McKnight Road near St. Sebastian Parish has 145 rooms. The hotel previously was a Holiday Inn.
Chris Leonard, director of marketing and communications for Hamister, said no decisions have been made on how the interior will be reconfigured.
“We are exploring our options on room makeup and the conversion,” he said.
