Bank near West View police station robbed; woman arrested
A Bellevue woman was arrested Thursday minutes after police say she robbed a bank across the street from the West View Police Department.
Barbara Hulka, 31, was apprehended about three blocks away with cash that was stolen in the holdup that occurred about 9:50 a.m. at the West View Savings bank on Perry Highway, police Chief Bruce A. Fromlak said.
“It does not appear to be drug related,” Fromlak said. “Just a desperate young lady.”
Hulka was charged with threatening to kill or harm the teller but no weapon was found, Fromlak said. She also was charged with robbery, theft, making terroristic threats and receiving stolen property.
She was apprehended on Glenmore Avenue by Ross Patrolman Robert Zegar, who was responding to the bank robbery call, Fromlak said. “He saw that she fit the description of the robbery suspect and detained her,” the chief said.
