Westmoreland seeks grant for drug court
Westmoreland County will seek a $30,000 state grant to help pay for the drug court program.
Commissioners announced Thursday they will apply for the funds from the Administrative Office of Pennsylvania Courts.
“It will help out and reimburse our general fund for the program,” Commissioner Gina Cerilli said.
The grant would not expand the program, she said.
The county started its drug court program in 2015. It operates with a $300,000 budget paid for through county finances, state grants and private donations.
Two judges split a caseload of 60 participants who are monitored for 18 months. Court officials said 30 participants have graduated from the program.
