Westmoreland campus clippings: Pitt-Greensburg women's volleyball snaps 21-match losing streak
Pitt-Greensburg women’s volleyball broke a 21-match losing streak with a 3-0 victory over winless Hilbert. It was the first career win for coach Erica Bosh.
Sophomore Marissa Leonard led UPG with 21 kills, freshman Alexis Ray added 15 and sophomore Sabre Turner and freshman Mackenzie Schropp (Penn-Trafford) added 12 apiece.
Bethany: Senior defensive specialist Reilly Parker (Norwin) leads the Bison (16-8, 9-2 PAC) with 478 digs and also has 53 assists. Freshman teammate Brooke Corley (Southmoreland) has 43 kills on the season.
Grove City: Senior Laura Buchanan (Norwin) climbed two spots on the program’s career kills list after putting down 22 in a 3-2 loss to Thiel. Buchanan moved into fifth place with 1,137 kills.
Penn State Behrend: Senior setter Lexi Irwin (Hempfield) had 11 kills and 24 assists to pace the Lions in a 3-0 loss to La Roche, Behrend’s first AMCC loss of the fall.
In a 3-0 victory over D’Youville, Irwin added 30 assists.
Saint Vincent: Sophomore outside hitter Mary Popp posted a career-high 18 kills and added 22 digs to help power the Bearcars (9-12, 5-6 PAC) past Chatham, 3-2.
Senior Marisa O’Dell added 14 kills, 24 assists and 27 digs, sophomores Cassie Murcko and Madison Reeping had 11 kills and senior Meghan Taylor had a career-high 38 digs.
Westminster: The Titans (23-2, 10-1) have surged to the top of the PAC, winning 19 of their last 20 matches. Senior defensive specialist Rachel Moore (Greensburg Central Catholic) has been one of the team’s most productive players, with 476 digs and 109 assists. Junior middle blocker Haley Farmerie (Greensburg Central Catholic) has 93 kills and 54 blocks.
Grove City: Junior Danielle Ledyard (Hempfield) finished third in the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 1 minute, 2.50 seconds at the season-opening Grove City Fall Classic.
Penn State Behrend: Senior Mark Patterson (Norwin) started the season on a high note as he finished first in a pair of events at the Grove City Fall Classic. He won the 100-yard backstroke (54.12 seconds) and the 200 backstroke (2:01.35). He also contributed to a runner-up finish for the 200 medley relay. He was second in the 50 freestyle.
Seton Hill: The Griffins picked up high point honors at the Bethany Show. Junior Alexis Kupic earned high point rider and frshman Kaitlyn Krueger was the reserve high points rider.
MEN’S CROSS COUNTRY
Beacon College (Fla.): Freshman Giulian Spino (Greensburg Salem) won the 3rd annual Beacon College 5K in a time of 21:19.
