Penn State Behrend keeper Chris Ralph tabbed ECAC defensive player of year
Chris Ralph let few opponents visit the net behind him this season, or over the course of his stellar college soccer career at Penn State Behrend.
The senior goalkeeper will graduate as one of the program’s best — and he has the hardware to prove it.
Ralph, a Franklin Regional graduate, was named the Eastern College Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Year.
Already a two-time Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Defensive Player of the Year and a Scholar All-American, Ralph (6-foot-3, 195 pounds) also made the All-ECAC First Team. Ralph, a three-time All-Region pick, had a 0.83 goals-against average and nine shutouts in 21 games for the Lions.
Ralph’s teammate and fellow Franklin Regional alum, Andrew Mastovich, a junior defender, made the All-ECAC Second Team.
Mastovich scored three goals this season and helped a defense that surrendered just 0.75 goals per game.
