Robert Morris basketball player Dachon Burke granted release
Robert Morris men's basketball sophomore Dachon Burke, the Colonials' leading scorer (17.6 points per game) this season, was granted his release and is seeking a transfer. Also, freshman Leondre Washington (8.4), who quit the team late in the season then asked to come back, was granted his release.
Since Robert Morris defeated North Florida in the 2015 NCAA Tournament, the Colonials have seen their top players transfer.
It started in 2015 after the Colonials lost to Duke. A week later, freshman Marquise Reed (15.1 points per game) transferred to Clemson. Rodney Pryor (18.0) followed the next season and went to Georgetown, and sophomore Elijah Minnie (12.0), a Monessen native who was dismissed from the team during the season, transferred to Eastern Michigan.
After the 2017 season, leading scorer Isaiah Still (15.7) moved on, sat out this season and transferred to Iona.
Others recent transfers include: Braden Burke (a walkon at Michigan State), Joe Hugley (Central Connecticut State), Jarius Lyles (UMBC) and Coron Williams (transferred to Wake Forest after the 2013 season).
RMU sports information director Jim Duzyk said the Colonials have four scholarships available. They haven't signed any players but have a few verbal commitments.
