Alle-Kiski high school roundup: Springdale boys soccer team edges Riverview

Michael Mitchell converted a corner kick late in the second half as Springdale clipped cross-river rival Riverview, 4-3, in a Section 3-A boys soccer game Thursday night.

Jared DeMore scored two goals and assisted on another, Brandon Panza chipped in a goal and Michael Zolnierczyk recorded seven saves for the Dynamos (6-2, 5-2).

With the loss, Riverview dropped to 4-4 overall and 3-4 in section.

Burrell 2, Valley 0 — Lucas Stellabotte and Ben Edwards scored late as Burrell (2-4, 2-3) won in Section 2-AA.

Goalkeeper Donovan Russell made 11 saves for the Bucs.

Alex Ward made 10 saves for Valley (1-6, 1-5).

Kiski Area 2, Franklin Regional 1 — Chase Kuhn's second goal of the game proved to be the winner in the 56th minute as the Cavaliers (3-5-1, 3-2-1) edged the Panthers (3-4, 2-2) in Section 4-AAAA. Nick Bono assisted on both goals.

Korey Nick Bisceglia recorded four saves for Kiski Area.

Knoch 5, Highlands 0 — Caleb Robb scored three goals for the Knights (3-6-1, 3-2-1) as they defeated Highlands (1-6-1, 1-4-1) in Section 1-AAA.

Girls soccer

Burrell 2, South Allegheny 1 — Megan Malits scored both goals as Burrell (6-2, 3-2) picked up a nonsection win over South Allegheny (2-6, 2-3).

Marena Glaister and Kaylee Pagane had assists for the Bucs.

Girls volleyball

Kiski Area 3, Fox Chapel 0 — Liz Debich finished with 12 kills as Kiski Area (3-2) downed Fox Chapel (2-3) in a Section 4-AAAA matchup.

Payton Davison had nine kills for the Cavaliers.

Burrell 3 East Allegheny 0 — Brooke Smith recorded eight digs and four aces as Burrell (5-1, 4-1) defeated East Allegheny in Section 5-AA. Hannah Pastor recorded four kills for the Bucs.

Greensburg Central Catholic 3, Springdale 1 — Savanna Baur recorded 17 kills and five blocks, but Springdale (3-3) fell to first-place Greensburg Central Catholic (5-0) in Section 4-A.

Boys golf

Freeport 201, Valley 298 — Mike Chahoy carded a personal-best 1-under-par 35 to pace the Yellowjackets (13-2, 11-0) to a Section 1-AA victory at Buffalo Golf Course. Dennis Wuyscik added a 38 for Freeport.
