Outdoors notices for June 9, 2019
• There were 174 shooters who competed in the Twi-Night Trap League on May 30, and 10 shooters with 25 straights, including four members of the Connellsville High School trap team. Connellsville finished in first place with a score of 199 targets. Hecla (194), Ruffsdale (190), Youngwood (189) and East Huntingdon (186) rounded out the scoring. Connellsville (59) leads the season standings, followed by Ruffsdale (33), Hecla (32.5), East Huntingdon (30) and Youngwood (25.5). Next week’s shoot will be at Ruffsdale Gun Club.

SHOOTS ON TAP
• West Penn Sportsmen’s Club in Murrysville will host an Iron Man shoot starting at 10 a.m. June 2. Registration closes at noon. There will be 131 targets, including trap doubles, singles and handicap, as well as wobble trap and sporting clays. A cost of $50 includes targets and dinner. • Registration is open for a summer clay target club at West Penn Sportsmen’s Club in Murrysville. Shooters ages 12-16 are eligible. The club will teach the basics of shotgun shooting. • Critter Path Sporting Clays will host the Great Lakes Sporting Clays Shootout June 28-30 in Waterford. There will be a 100-target main event. Email [email protected] for more information.
• California Hill Gun Club holds sporting clays and five-stand shoots Sundays from 9 a.m.-noon. All are open to the public. Call 724-938-3480.
• Sporting clays is closed for the winter at West Penn Sportsmen’s Club, but five stand is open Thursdays from 5-8 p.m. and from 10 a.m.-noon Sundays. Cost is $5 for 25 targets for members. Nonmembers are $6 per round.

• White Oak Rod and Gun Club has CMP shoots from 9-11 a.m. the second Sunday of each month. There are indoor 3-D archery shoots from 6-9 p.m. Thursdays. Cost is $3 for adults, $1 for children ages 12-16 and free to those 11 and younger and 65 and older. Skeet and five-stand shoots are 7-9 p.m. Wednesdays, Fridays and on sporting clays Sundays. • East Huntingdon Sportsmen’s Association has trap practice at 6 p.m. Mondays. Cost is $3 for a round of 25 birds. The public is welcome. • Pony Farm Sportsmen’s Club in Kittanning has open trap nights at 6 p.m. Fridays. The public is welcome to use the lighted ranges. The full kitchen is open for all events.
