Panthers' Cam Newton joins Steelers players in wearing 'Stronger Than Hate' cleats
The Pittsburgh Steelers won’t be the only ones honoring the memory of those who lost their lives in the Squirrel Hill shooting last month.
Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton is wearing black-and-gold cleats emblemized with “Stronger Than Hate” during Thursday night’s game against the Steelers at Heinz Field.
The Steelers’ official Twitter account also indicated that several of their players will wear similar cleats Thursday.
During the Steelers’ previous game four days ago, quarterback Ben Roethlisberger wore cleats that included the Star of David as part of the hypocycloids on the Steelers logo. The words “Stronger than hate” also were written on his cleats.
Roethlisberger is close with former Steelers community relations director Michele Rosenthal, who lost two of her brothers in the synagogue attack.
