U mad, bro? Readers enraged over Pat Narduzzi, shaky Steelers, Ray Searage
The Pittsburgh Steelers are 0-2. The starting quarterback is out for the year. The Pirates have become a civic humiliation. Pitt’s head coach pulled a legendarily stupid decision.
So, you tell me. You think there might be some material for “U mad, bro?” this week?
Let’s come in hot! This email from Jordan was directed at me.
“You’re an idiot!”
Jordan didn’t reply to a specific story or point out what opinion of mine he didn’t like. He’s just making a general character assessment here.
I can only assume that Jordan is mistaking me for someone who agrees with Pat Narduzzi’s play calling.
Regardless, Jordan, thanks for your valuable feedback. I’ll work on that.
Speaking of Narduzzi, I got a lot of negative responses from football fans regarding his decision to kick a fourth-quarter field goal down 17-10 late in last Saturday’s game against Penn State.
It's indefensible. I don't care what his explanation is. The decision speaks for itself. It was a gutless call from a guy who always talks a big game.

You got that right, Greg.
Not only did Narduzzi make the wrong call. He has been argumentative about it and demeaning toward those in the media who have asked him to explain the decision.
Personally, I view his defensiveness as a sign that he isn’t as confident in the call as he wants us to believe.
David disagrees with my stance that the Steelers are taking a major risk by trading away their first-round pick for Minkah Fitzpatrick.
Losing isn’t good for business. This trade addresses a glaring weakness. Steelers get a 10th overall selection with a year under his belt in Fitz. Not sure what the fascination is with the potential to obtain a “natural high pick” in NEXT year’s draft. @TimBenzPGH

Not sure what the fascination is? Gee, good point.
The last time the Steelers were near the top ten, all they got was that Ben Roethlisberger bum. And I guess it was really stupid to trade up for Devin Bush then, too, huh?
Welp. You got me.
Look, I’ll say it again. I really like Minkah Fitzpatrick. He’s a good player who fills a need. But this trade can’t be fully evaluated until we know where the Steelers will end up drafting in April.
Todd is someone who thinks the Steelers should look at Colin Kaepernick to be a backup quarterback. I vehemently disagree.

Todd, maybe you should read it.
Because the basis of my argument is that Kevin Colbert should avoid bringing on a guy who hasn’t played in over two years.
The main comparison to Kaepernick in that story is how bad Mark Sanchez was when he came back to play for the Washington Redskins. He’s also a guy who hadn’t played in over two years.
How is that helping your point? Kinda seems like it’s proving mine.
Brian sent me an email about Pirates pitching coach Ray Searage with the subject line of “Searage must go.”
“No doubt he has Ben Roethlisberger trying to throw more two-seamers, resulting in another trip to Dr. James Andrews.”
Brian, I hadn’t considered blaming Searage for Roethlisberger’s elbow injury. But why not?
His pitching staff has allowed 53 runs over the last four games.
Obviously, it’s fair to blame him for everything.
