Suspect injured in police chase escapes from UPMC Mercy
Police searched Tuesday for a man who escaped from UPMC Mercy while being treated for injuries suffered during a police chase, a Pittsburgh emergency dispatcher said.
Otto Harris, no age available, escaped from the Uptown hospital about 9 p.m. Monday, the dispatcher said. According to a police description, Harris is black, 6 feet tall and 210 pounds with multiple tattoos. He has an injury to his right eye.
Harris was hospitalized after leading police on a chase that began in Munhall and ended at Becks Run Road and East Carson Street in the South Side, Pittsburgh police said.
Police are charging Harris with fleeing police, possession of a controlled substance, conspiracy, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, reckless driving and driving with a suspended or revoked license, according to court records.
Harris was arrested in October by Munhall police and charged with receiving stolen property, possession of a firearm, possession of marijuana and intent to deliver a controlled substance, according to court records.
