Shooting suspect held
An Arlington man was in the Allegheny County Jail on $100,000 bond Saturday following his arrest in connection with a shooting Monday in Allentown.
Police arrested Brandon Alton, 21, of Rothman Street, at 9:22 p.m. Friday at his home without incident.
Alton is accused of shooting a man in the head on Millbridge Street and sparking a two-car accident at Walter Street and Manton Way that left two other men hurt, one of them paralyzed.
Maurice Sampson, 22, of Mt. Washington, suffered a back injury that paralyzed him, police said. A man in Sampson's car injured his arm, police said.
Police yesterday would not release the name of man shot in the head or the man with the arm injury.
The injured were taken to Mercy Hospital, Uptown. A hospital spokeswoman said yesterday that she had no information about Sampson's condition. The other victims' conditions also were unknown.
Sampson was driving a Nissan Maxima on Millbridge Street on Monday morning, and two friends followed him in a Pontiac Grand Am, when someone shot at both cars, police said.
A man in the Pontiac was shot in the head, police said. The two cars sped off, but collided at Walter Street and Manton Way.
Police charged Alton with three counts each of attempted homicide and aggravated assault and one count of carrying a firearm without a license.
He was arraigned early yesterday morning. He faces a preliminary hearing Thursday.
