Bar fight leads to shooting in Strip District
A fistfight inside a Strip District tavern early this morning led to a shooting out on the sidewalk, city police said.
Two men fighting inside Gene's Last Chance shortly before 4 a.m. ended up flying through a large window onto the street, detectives said. The fight then continued until one of the combatants left the bar and tried to get into a car out front.
The other man then shot him several times, police said.
Friends of the shooting victim put him in a car and drove off. Police stopped the car about nine blocks away on the 1600 block of Penn Avenue, and paramedics took the victim from there to Allegheny General Hospital, North Side. He was in critical condition this morning.
A short time later, police discovered another wounded man in a car speeding near the Homestead Grays Bridge in Hazelwood. Detectives said they were still trying to determine whether that man was involved in the bar fight.
Police did not immediately release any information on the two injured men. City homicide detectives were investigating.
