Weather wreaks havoc on baseball season

Tuesday's Fayette County Baseball League game between Bud Murphy's and host Mill Run began under sunny skies, but the weather didn't cooperate for long. A hard rain began to fall early on, and with two outs in the top of the second inning and Bud's holding a 2-1 lead, the game was called.

Bud Murphy's will host Fayette City/Belle Vernon in a make-up game today, while Mill Run will host the same team in a doubleheader on Sunday.

Brownsville 9, Connellsville 0

Andy Buchta notched a single and a double for the Connellsville County League baseball team, but the Warriors dropped a decision at Brownsville. Len Kolencik took the loss.

Bob Oldham got the win for the Bucs (3-0). Kevin Dvorchak homered, singled and posted three RBI. Mike Pattitucci doubled, tripled and drove in three runs. Mitch Mitchell singled, doubled and knocked in a pair of runs.

Connellsville (0-3) will host Charleroi on Saturday. Brownsville will be back in action today when the team travels to Carmichaels.

Fayette Legion

Connelsville vs. Charleroi

Tuesday night's Fayette Legion game between Connellsville and visiting Charleroi was postponed due to rain.

Connellsville (3-0) will host Perry this evening.

Connellsville 9, Colonial 7

On Memorial Day, Toddy Bell ripped a two-run homer in the eighth inning to power Connellsville to a win over host Colonial 3. Bell also posted three singles, a double and drove in five runs.

Greg Beucher nailed a homer while picking up two singles and a double. Brian Rockwell singled three times and scored twice. Chris Marsinko blasted a homer in the seventh.

Bell pitched the final five innings and struck out seven to post the win.

Connellsville 11, Waynesburg 7

On Friday, Brian Rockwell hit a grand slam as part of a six-run eighth inning to give Connellsville a comeback win over Waynesburg.

Matt Rupp connected on a three-run blast and scored five times.

Bryce Fox laced two doubles to go along with a single and three runs scored and two RBI. Tony Marciante doubled twice and scored twice while driving in a run.

Brent Wilson was the winning pitcher and Rockwell picked up the save.
