Mt. Pleasant golfers top Laurel Highlands

Andy Yoder shot a 40 and Brandon Springer had a 41, as the Mt. Pleasant boys golf team posted a key Division I, Section 2 victory over visiting Laurel Highlands, 207-218, at Norvelt Golf Course on Wednesday.

Zac Heide, Andrew Raffensperger and Justin Dent each shot a 42 for Mt. Pleasant (2-0, 2-0).

Harrison Laskey paced the Mustangs (1-1, 1-1) with a 40, followed by Jeremy Guzy (42), Rich David (43), Nick Ezzi (44) and Vincent Agostini (49).

Belle Vernon 200, Connellsville 235 — Kirby Manown shot a low round of 35 to lead the Leopards (1-1, 1-1) to a win over Connellsville in Division I, Section 2.

Jonathan Grinko carded a 44 to pace the Falcons (0-1, 0-1). Tyler McFadden (45), Mike McFadden (45), Gage Falo (50) and Ryan Burkholder (51) completed the scoring for Connellsville.

Bentworth 202, Geibel 248 — Derek Damich shot a 37 and was the medalist as Bentworth knocked off Geibel in Division II, Section 2 action at Pleasant Valley Country Club.

Ryan Robson led Geibel with a 38 and was joined by Ibrahim Shaktih (43), Patrick Herbert (49), Matt Emerson (57) and Nick Oppman (61) for Geibel (0-2, 0-2).

Frazier 218, Jeannette 226 — Tyler Rock shot a 36 as the Frazier golf team topped host Jeannette in a Division II, Section 2 match at Greensburg Country Club. Robert Gondura (39), Andrea Lash (44), J.J. Roebuck (46) and Josh Olbrys (52) were Frazier's other scorers.

Matt Scherff led the Jayhawks with a 37.

Girls golf

Seton-La Salle 235, Southmoreland 252 — Jo Walz shot a 40 to lead Seton-La Salle to a Division II, Section 1 win over host Southmoreland at Timber Ridge Golf Course.

Maddy Nelson led the Scotties (0-2, 0-1) with a 55 and was joined by Kelsey Shirer (65), Zoe Ripple (66) and Shelby Conn (66).

Girls tennis

Mt. Pleasant 5, Greensburg Salem 0 — Amanda Marker and Shelby Romanik won first doubles, and Sarah Adams and Kayla King picked up a win at second doubles as the Vikings (2-0, 1-0) topped Greensburg Salem in Section 1-AA.

Shayla Landman, April Bradley and Taylor Bradley won at first through third singles, respectively, for Mt. Pleasant.
